The Minotaur
The myth of the Minotaur is highly known for the story of it lurking in a maze and killing all who enter however do you know the origin of the Minotaur? The god Poseidon gave the king of Crete a white bull to sacrifice and when the king didn't do so Poseidon made the daughter (in some myths it is the kings wife queen Pasiphae) of the king reproduce with the bull making her give birth to the monsterious Minotaur that was part bull part human and ate human flesh. King Minos made craftsman Daedalus and his son Icarus build a massive maze to house the beast. Every nine years the king had to send seven young boys and seven young girls to the labryrinth so that the minotaur could feast on their flesh. Theseus used a ball and thread to keep his path in the labryinth known and killed the beast with the sword of aegeus then led the surviving Athenians back out of the maze. The birth name of the Minotaur is Asterion which means " starry one" in Greek.
